Denay crafts an engaging, meaningful experience for students, staff, parents, and organizations to learn about inclusion and the important message of teaching kindness. Her experience as a first-grade SAISD teacher and parent of a special needs child give her a unique voice in covering this increasingly important topic.
Using her children's book as an example, she opens a dialog about children with all needs creating a fun, loving, and educational forum for the audience to learn and create their own dialog about inclusion.
Her book, The Adventures of Bug and Boo - Under the Sea, features a five-year-old girl and her brother who takes her on a magical adventure under the sea. Bug is not your typical girl, however, she has a rare genetic disorder called Rett Syndrome. She is non-verbal and requires a wheelchair, but understands everything.
